Dear Parents, 
 
Lots of good news to share with you today. 
 
First, let me congratulate all of you fifth grade parents who have children playing in the Hathaway School band. They are making history as the first school band!  We welcome all of you to their concert on Friday, March 14 from 2:30 until 3:00 p.m. And just a reminder. The musicians were told by the band directors to be in uniform....black pants or skirt, white shirt (preferably long sleeves) and black shoes (sneakers). I thought this had gone home in writing to you a few weeks ago when they were told and just found out that it had not. My apologies for any inconvenience. We look forward to hearing the students play the pieces they have learned over the last five months! Wonderful accomplishment !!!! 
 
Secondly, a reminder that tomorrow is Characters for Crafts. As I mentioned in the Hornet, Ralph and Shannon Craft and their three children lost their home to a fire on March 2nd. They are presently living in a hotel, thanks to the Buddemeyers!  To help defray the cost of starting over, we are letting the children show their generosity while having a curriculum connected day...dressing up (using a simple prop) like a literary character...fiction of non-fiction. If you are sending in a check for the family, please make it payable to Ralph and/or Shannon Craft. Thanks.
 
Next, please don't forget to send in your slip to volunteer for the Spelling Bee. Due on March 20th. So far we have 10 out of the 44 volunteers we need to hold the bees. And, yes, your child can get  a list for the following grade once they have mastered the list for their own grade. 
 
Lastly, but not the least in importance.. There will be a NECAP  Informational Night at PMS for all parents of students in Grades 3-5 starting at 6:00 p.m.  Mrs. Jermain will explain the reports that I sent home to you recently and answer any questions that you may have. I will not be able to be there for all of this meeting since I am taking a graduate course in school law on Tuesdays from 4- 6:30 p.m. This presentation may hold some good ideas for you on ways to help your child improve in certain areas. If, for any reason you are unable to attend and want someone to "walk you through the report", just let me know and I will be happy to do so.
